Burn the Ships by King and Country
This has been a new artist that the boys and I been enjoying together. From the lyrics and melody to the epic music video it's an easy listen that you'll find yourself singing in the shower to!

Like a Spring Rain - Colporteur
The Colporteur band was introduced to me at college during our Summit Worldview Conference. Times spent in morning and evening worship in the small and dusky theater at Prairie remain some of my most richest times of communion with God's people in worship. I have carried many of their songs with me and revisited them. I sing them often around the house or on my way to work. Earlier this year I felt an interest to know if they had any newer albums and was pleased to see they had! The album "Call (EarReverent V2)" had the most songs I had not yet heard and after listening to a few snippets I was hooked.
This song has been my favorite and you'll likely find yourself singing it in the shower every morning. You can find it online at colporteur.bandcamp.com/album/call-earreverent-v2. The $7.00 is worth it alone for this song but the others on the album also are great.

King of Kings - Ordinary Time
Easy to listen to, with a slight twist on some of the Christmas classics, Ordinary Time has often been played as we move into the fall and winter months. The voices and melodies somehow can bring a balance to the abundance of chaos that comes about in each day with three kids about (plus one always in arms). Their album In the Town of David has a number of other songs we enjoy to get us in the Christmas spirit in a way that doesn't scream commercialism!

Come Down O Love Divine - Fernando Ortega
There are not many days that go by without Fernando Ortega making his music grace our walls. I have my wife to thank for introducing me to Fernando, and the more I listen to some of his music the more appreciative I become. It is not his style but his heart that rings through to me. In his search for true and authentic corporate worship he has wrestled through many of the same questions I have and both have found ourselves a sanctuary at home in the Anglican tradition.
Corporate worship is not an emotional response, it should be a reflective expression of our belief that draws us deeper into the mystery of God and our faith. I grow weary at so many of the evangelical songs we sing today because they lack any depth of theology and thought. They say the same thing everyone else says and are unable to draw us deeper into the grandeur of God.
The hymn Come Down O Love Divine is not one of those songs and it has become an integral part of our families evenings each night. Find space in your day to meditate on this song!

Hidden in my heart: A lullaby journey through the life of Jesus Vol 3
Like a good cup of tea this series of tracks bring a sense of calm and peace to the end of a busy day. While I usually find myself playing Fernando Ortega (yes I have been heavily influenced by my wife) before bed to the kids to quiet those busy and active minds this album offers an excellent alternative of quiet songs taken directly out of scripture. Perfect also at the 4 o'clock hour where madness fights to reign. What is good for kids is probably good for us all right?
Check out one of the songs for yourself on youtube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQV1p1UjqE4

The High Kings - Parting Glass
I was listening to Pandora the other day and was enjoying some old favorite artists from college (Kate Rusby, Wailin' Jennys) when I stumbled upon what has become a new favorite. I have been holding off purchasing them in hopes that it might come as a gift it's a hard wait. The tune was familiar. I have listened to the Wailin' Jennys play Parting Glass many times and listening to them live in concert in Calgary was a delight. But The High Kings bring the Wailin' Jennys peaceful, reflective tune and add a punch that only Scottish bagpipes can add. The result is a tune that I play almost patriotically as I march around the house with my kids. I hope you'll be marching soon too! Listen to it on youtube here: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FcSqI1KZiLI&feature=youtu.be

Little Chief - Lions Den: Mountain Song
I was introduced to Little Chief through NoiseTrade. Mountain Song was the first song I listened to off of their album Lions Den and it immediately got me hooked. I had to listen to it again and again. The song conjures up images of mountain biking in Montana, and makes me miss early fall days with Reuben Stratford on the trail. The rest of their album is decent, but it is worth the download just to listen to this instrumental blend percolate as you wind down the single track. Even so, I find myself putting on their album frequently and hope their future music will feature more blends like I hear on Mountain Song. Download it for yourself on NoiseTrade by following the link right here: http://noisetrade.com/littlechief/lions-den
